Cha-Chan-Changes...

Good afternoon and I welcome you back. I want to announce the three new changes that I have decided make to the blog.

First, “Appearance Mondays” I want to begin sharing information and my philosophies on appearance on Monday’s. Since Mondays are so instrumental in creating the most for “your entire week,” I thought why not share my system of appearance then? I am excited to share and to grow with my readers as they uncover the secrets being beautiful today.”

Next will be “Closet Stories” Wednesdays. Since I work in closets with my private clients, I have become privy to some pretty amazing breakthroughs with my clients lives. Closets are energy powerhouses. And, I am going to share some of my closet stories. My hope is that you begin to realize how important your closet really is. I’ll show you just how to do that and I’ll be here to help along the way.

Third will be “Spirituality Fridays.” On Fridays, I will offer my ideas, techniques, training and viewpoints on how spirituality affects our appearance. I love this topic because it is a major part of my life path beginning at the age of 10 years old when I completed TM meditation training in Long Beach with my parents :D

Come join me. Come learn and expand with me- fill your tanks with me. Engage with me!

Lift someone’s spirits in 5 seconds

Smiling is one of the most powerful tools of the human race. It only takes a few seconds to lift someone’s spirits with a smile- to make someone’s spirit soar to higher levels.
What do you do when you look in the mirror? Can you imagine looking in the mirror everyday to practice your smile?

Smiling is contagious, powerful, and beautifully influential.
Most of us cannot resist a smile.

Have you smiled lately? Are you willing to make someone smile today?

5 simple ways to get along better with others

I delivered a conflict management workshop last week to a pretty savvy group of professional women and men in the entertainment industry! I was hired to conduct this training since conflict was running rapid at the company. There was bullying over email, fighting in cubicles, and passive-aggressive behavior with supervisors....hmmm?!
I thought I would include some janasecrets for getting along better with others. They are simple, easy and powerful. Put them to work for yourself- see what happens…
1.) Conflict is a normal process of life- trying to avoid it creates more conflict.
2.) The people who manage conflict positively and responsibly have the best jobs, best relationships, best pay, and the best sex lives.
3.) There are three types of conflict- emotional, need, and value-based conflict.
4.) Reactions to conflict are a direct result in how you deal with conflict. Learn how to spot the four key reactions and identify where you belong.
5.) Conflict is a lot like fear. It can truly be your best guide, your guardian angel, or your life teacher.

Holiday Etiquette

Every year I teach an etiquette workshop before the holidays.  It’s usually a sell out and the participants just can’t get enough.  I must admit that they're fun since the wildest, most outrageous questions come up.

I thought I would post some of the real doozies from the workshop.  Have fun reading and please send me feedback for next year if you'd like!

JanaSecrets on Holiday Cards

I asked the workshop participants to bring in their favorite holiday cards and the holiday cards that ranked the worst.  Here are the results from the workshop.

BAD Holiday Cards

TMI (too much information)  Holiday Cards – if you send holiday cards please don’t:  (1) fake smiles – we can just tell that you walk around angry all the time (2) wear matching outfits (this is for dancing with the stars) (3) pick up your girlfriend/partner – (it’s not prom night) (4) don’t grab her body parts (seriously…just get a room)

Professionally Printed Holiday Cards – you know the ones with the creepy “chilly” factor… These cards have been professionally printed and labeled so you don’t need to write anything.  This translates to:  I am just too busy for you or you should be flattered you are even on my mailing list.

All About Me:  this is the holiday card where you send a picture collage of yourself and everything you have accomplished this year.  Including really long captions about each picture and event (while attempting to be funny as well) increases the gag and vomit factor.

GOOD Holiday Cards

Personal note in pen
Request to get together soon
Animals on the front of the card
Charity Holiday Cards
Smiley faces
Pictures of children to put in scrapbooks

JanaSecrets Holiday Party Tips:

If you RSVP – show up.  No exceptions
If you don’t RSVP – that reveals an even bigger message about you
Always arrive to a party with a little gift
Don’t come to parties super hungry.  Nothing worse than witnessing a party “grazer” who can’t leave the shrimp cocktail platter alone.
Buffet Line – you are not allowed to begin sampling food off your plate as you make your way down the buffet line.  Finish through the buffet, take a seat, and unfold your napkin first!!

Yes, Oprah is remarkable.

This saying by Oprah has given me much positivity and has enabled me to refresh the belief I have in myself.

"Run your own race. Do your best and people will notice".
Thank you, Oprah, for reinforcing so many of the essential values that aid in personal and professional success.

Turning heads...impressions truly matter!

People decide if they like you or not at a speed of 1/20th of a second. Can you believe that judgment takes place at such a hyper-speed?

Influence, Persuasion, and Relaxation

It's not what you think you look like, but really what other people see.
p.s. this is my favorite saying, quote, tip, and title of my next book :)
